March, 2010
Greetings from the East:
Brethren, as you all know by now, our planned Special Meetings were cancelled because of both the weather and availability of candidates. Consequently, it will be necessary to schedule additional Special Meetings so that we move our degree work along to accommodate the backlog. I am certain that our Senior Warden, WB Saltz will be an excellent WM pro tem during my absence. I will be traveling to Florida for a winter respite and visiting with our Yellow Springs Brethren living in Florida.
The Inspection Season is about 75% complete. We have had good attendance from our Lodge and are running a close third place in overall attendance at the inspections. I hope that we have a good showing at the Fairborn Lodges’ Inspections on Saturday, February 27th. If enough of our members attend we just might win the Traveling Gavel for at least a week. Check the web site for times.
A One Day Class is planned for April 17th at the Fairborn Lodge Temple. We may portray one of the degrees or we may assist in degree work. We will know more about our participation in March. Depending on the degree we will need help for the work.
As previously noted, our web site is available to all who have access to the internet to discover our schedules, plans and gateways to learning a wealth of information about Masonry and our history. We are seeing lodges having to cut costs and one of them is to no longer print and mail newsletters. Many lodges are using the internet for keeping the Brethren informed. Many of you will read this note on the internet. To better serve you we are asking that you submit your e-mail address, if you have one, so that we can communicate to more of our Brethren when we have schedule changes or other matters of interest that cannot wait for the next newsletter. We are looking forward to seeing you at the next meeting.
Sincerely; WB Charles Fada, WM Yellow Springs Lodge #421

From the South
This year been tough with a lot of snow and we’re all thinking about going south for a little sun. Now some of us are trapped inside our warm homes and possible hunkered down on our computers. Thus, at this time I would like o take a moment and describe our new Yellow Springs Lodge web site that has been recently redesigned and continues to be updated with valuable Masonic information and links to other sites full of Masonic knowledge. The Internet is here to stay constantly evolving and involving our daily lives. Therefore, the Brethren at Yellow Springs created our own web site to inform, educate, and enjoy this new medium that will surpass our generation and become even more intertwined in the lives of the next.
The Yellow Springs Lodge web site can be accessed here: http://www.yellowsprings421.org.
If you don’t have a computer at home, public libraries all have computers so you can access the lodge web site there.
When you access the web site for the first time you’ll notice right on the main page our identity as Freemasons is represented by the Square and Compasses. Also the banner at the top displays different artifacts of our lodge exhibited in the banner that changes every 15 seconds. You should see the Tyler’s sword it’s beautiful. Across the top is links to other information consisting of Lodge officers for that year to include email addresses. Next is a member’s link to depict lodge members and the day they were raised. If you don’t see a Brother’s name please let us know. Next is the inspection schedule for that year giving times, dates, and places. We as Brethren always like to travel together to inspections. So come on out and join us. The calendar shows major events throughout the year to include, lodge meetings, family activities, and other timely and important information. The calendar is ever changing with new activities and updated information so drop in and check out the calendar. The newsletter is also posted every month as the Worshipful Master sees fit. We have current and archived newsletters for you to enjoy. We are full of pictures showing all sorts of activities from Masonic to family activities. There is always some of good old Santa and the kids at Christmas pictures. What’s great about it is anyone can view these pictures so share them with family and friends. Our Education link continues to grow as we do presenting handbooks, degree presentations, Masonic music, and even the history of our lodge and Freemasonry in Ohio. The white papers will continue to grow as we discover new information and post it on the site. We also have maps to the other 8th District Lodges and a contact page where you can notify us by mail, phone, email, or in person. Lastly we would all like the Brethren to sign the guest book once you visited the site. We already had Brethren from Scotland who signed the book. So Brethren get out there and check it out.
